French watchmaking excellence offered to His Majesty Naruhito, Emperor of Japan
On the occasion of the state visit to Japan by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, the Manufacture Pequignet is honored to present the unique creation offered by France to His Majesty Emperor Naruhito: the Attitude Impériale watch. This exceptional timepiece embodies the pinnacle of French watchmaking expertise and celebrates the historic friendship between the two nations.
At the heart of this unique piece, the dial—crafted in miniature painting by the artist Philippe Jacquin-Ravot—depicts two intertwined branches: the oak, symbolizing the strength of France, and the cherry tree, representing the elegance of Japan. This decoration, where East meets West at the center of the dial, illustrates a Franco-Japanese friendship that is continually renewed.
As of April 2, a replica of this exclusive model is showcased at the Maison Élysée museum, situated opposite the Élysée Palace at 88 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré (Paris, France).
An alliance of French talents
For this state piece, Pequignet brought together the finest artisans from Franche-Comté, at the heart of the watchmaking region listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The La Pratique workshops in Morteau crafted the blued steel hands in full accordance with traditional techniques.
The Jean Rousseau Manufacture in Besançon hand-stitched the exceptional bracelet in exclusive alligator leather.
The house France Étui, also in Besançon, created the bespoke case for the Attitude Impériale.

True to its DNA as a French Haute Horlogerie manufacture, Pequignet has equipped this model, like the other watches in its Attitude collection, with the Calibre Initial®.
Created in 2021, it offers a power reserve of 65 hours. Thanks to its local sourcing, all components are produced within an 80 km radius of Morteau, 72% of which are of French origin. Moreover, the watch benefits from the prestigious Chronometer certification from the Besançon Observatory, the highest standard of watchmaking precision in the world.
